Officers in Nether Providence were on patrol just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26 when they heard about six gunshots ring out from the 400 block of Leiper Street, the department wrote in a statement.

Just as police arrived on the scene, a black Dodge Challenger was seen fleeing the area "at a high rate of speed," authorities wrote. They were able to pull the car over on the 600 block of Vernon Street, but as they approached, the driver sped away again, police said.

Finally, the driver crashed in front of a house on Ronaldson Street before running away on foot, leaving his car behind, investigators added.

A search of the vehicle turned up a handgun, "several" loaded magazines, and the driver's ID.

Police have since issued an arrest warrant for Leslie James Clements, 42, of Philadelphia. He's charged with weapons and traffic offenses, including two felony counts, state court records show.

No one was injured in the shooting, which detectives believe may have been related to an ongoing "neighborhood dispute" dating back to September.
